Spectacular Diagnostics is the moniker of Chicago-based hip-hop producer and visual artist Robert Krums.

Robert Krums has been a staple of the independent hip-hop landscape for over two decades. Initially producing under the name Earmint in the early 2000s, he achieved early milestones working alongside icons like Madlib and Prefuse 73 on Chicago’s seminal Chocolate Industries label. His debut solo album for EV Records garnered critical acclaim from outlets like Okayplayer and URB, featuring collaborations with indie legends like Murs, Illogic and Psalm One.

In 2015, Krums reemerged as Spectacular Diagnostics, evolving his sound into something more atmospheric, cohesive, and uncompromised. Digging deep for rare vinyl breaks, vintage dialogue, dusty loops, and jazzy textures, he has built an extensive catalog of instrumental LPs and MC showcase albums, including Raw Game, Raw Unknown, thebeautifulmusic, Natural Mechanics, and Ancient Methods.

His forward thinking production style eventually led to linking with UK cult hero Kid Acne and producing his HAVE A WORD and HAUNTOLOGY CODES LPs for the legendary UK label Lex Records, cementing his place in a prestigious catalog alongside titans like MF DOOM and Danger Mouse. 

In 2026 he's stepped up as the sonic architect for the UK’s premier avant-garde rap collective Cult of the Damned, handling the production for their long awaited return LP SIMONY.
